UPM is accepting applications for intern
workers to fill at least two positions including the McRae Publishing Internship, a position generously supported by the Richard and Selby McRae
Foundation.
The McRae Publishing Internship offers a singular educational opportunity to young men and women interested in book publishing to start their careers as interns and gain valuable practical knowledge about the publishing industry. The McRae Intern will work under the supervision of the Press’s full-time staff and assist with a variety of tasks, including proofreading manuscripts, assisting with peer review, and checking permissions.

This position requires a minimum of 25 hours per week with a preference for
more hours if possible. The McRae Intern will be required to work onsite at our
offices in Jackson during regular business hours, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00
p.m., Monday through Friday. This position does offer a monthly stipend, which
will vary based on the amount of time worked.
The other position available this spring is an editorial internship. The student intern should be available to work 8-15 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and will assist with a variety of editorial tasks including proofreading, preparing letters, and filing. This position is unpaid, but we are happy to work with the student so that s/he could receive college credit for work done at the Press.
Previous UPM interns have gone on to jobs in publishing or
related fields or continued their education by attending university-affiliated
publishing programs.
