Ellis Anderson on MPB's Writers

Ellis Anderson, author of Under Surge, Under Siege: The Odyssey of Bay St. Louis and Katrina, will be featured on tonight's brand new episode of Writers. The show airs at 9:00 p.m. on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Ellis will be joined on this Hurricane Katrina-themed episode by Stan Tiner (Editor of the Biloxi Sun Herald) and Tom Piazza (City of Refuge). Watch the episode trailer after the jump.

In Under Surge, Under Siege, Ellis Anderson - who rode out the storm in her Bay St. Louis home - offers a survivor's tale of the hurricane's destruction and a community's enduring determination. A blend of memoir, personal diary, and journalism, the lyrical style of Under Surge, Under Siege creates a modern-day American testament to the strength of the human spirit.

Under Surge, Under Siege was recently awarded the Eudora Welty Prize from the Eudora Welty Symposium at Mississippi University for Women. Anderson will speak at the symposium at MUW in October.

Readers on the Gulf Coast can talk with Ellis and get a signed copy of Under Surge this Saturday (8/28) at the Barnes & Noble in Gulfport from 2 - 4 p.m.
