The Lost Boys of Syracuse

Not Just Child’s Play: Emerging Tradition and the Lost Boys of Sudan is an investigation of one group of Sudanese refugees and their efforts to hold on to their tradition. Author Felicia McMahon breaks new ground in the presentation of emerging traditions of the “Lost Boys,” a group of parentless youths who fled Sudan under tragic circumstances in the 1990s.

McMahon is a research professor in anthropology at Syracuse University who has been working with a Lost Boys Chapter in Central New York for almost six years.

You can watch this video from the Syracuse Post-Standard to learn more about the customs and traditions of DiDinga Lost Boys.
